Key Activities
- Performs application and system operational duties. Implements solutions to Critical and High Incidents to solve problems and eliminate future recurrence.
- Tunes databases software and operating system environments.
- Collaborates with architects and product teams to ensure that the designed solution responds to nonfunctional requirements such as availability performance security and maintainability.
- Performs Database Management System design using data modeling tools. Creates database
- objects such as tables views stored procedures triggers sequences constraints and rules.
- Troubleshoots problems and provides resolution including SQL tuning solving performance and/or connectivity issues fixing corrupt indexes restoring corrupt databases from backup and assisting developers with repairing corrupted data.
- Identifies tasks and estimates as appropriate for business line support.
- Creates documentation for standards design support implementation and troubleshooting of databases and database management systems.
Required Technical Skills
- Database Administrator experience with DB2 on Linux (RHEL).
- Work with application development team to design and create database objects.
- Performance tuning skills: monitoring and optimizing database performance.
- Experience coding and explaining complex SQLs.
- Backup and Recovery: Implementing and testing backup and recovery procedures.
- Good problemsolving analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Indepth knowledge and understanding of tools (DB2PD DB2TOP etc.).
- Programming experience with Unix/Linux Shell script.
Preferred Technical Skills
- Database Administrator experience with Db2 on z/OS and PostgreSQL.
- Maintain Erwin data model.
- Ability to learn new technologies.
