ABOUT DESCARTES UNDERWRITING

After a successful Series B raise of $120M USD we launched Descartes Insurance a full stack insurer licensed to underwrite risk by the French regulator ACPR. With a growing corporate client base (350 and counting) our diverse team is headquartered in Paris and operates out of our 13 global offices in North America Europe Australia Singapore Hong Kong and Japan. Descartes is trusted by a panel of Arated (re)insurers to carry out its activities.


ABOUT YOUR ROLE

Descartes Underwriting is seeking an Actuary Officer to join our Risk management &
Actuarial Team. In close and effective cooperation with all businessunits and play a vital role inthe deployment of Solvency 2 productionand reports.

Your responsibilities would deal with:

SOLVENCY 2
Pillar I :

  • Calculate SCR using a standard formula;
  • Maintain tools for prudential calculation and closing production (ie. SCR EOFQRT ...).

Pillar II :

  • Contribute to Solvency II prudential reports;
  • Ensure that the solvency assessment takes into account the specific riskprofile of the company;
  • Contribute to any additional ACPR requests (figures tests etc).

Pillar III :

  • Contribute to the production of all reporting data required to the regulators (QRT);
  • Handle internal reporting.


CALCULATION OF TECHNICAL PROVISIONS

  • Ensure the relevance of the methodologies and underlying models used andthe assumptions made in the calculation process assess the sufficiency and quality of data used in the calculation of technical provisions assess thereliability and adequacy of the calculation of technical provisions and comparebest estimates against experience etc;
  • Contribute to the actuarial report.

ABOUT YOU

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

  • From 2 to 5 years relevant experience in nonlife actuarial;
  • Masters degree in Actuarial from actuarial schools;
  • Strong ability to draft technical and quantitative reports;
  • Strong knowledge in Solvency 2.

SKILLS

  • Fluency in English and French is required (written and spoken);
  • Eye for quality autonomous and attention to detail;
  • Exercise rigor and organizational skills.
