Currently we are seeking a GIS integration consultant for one of our clients that is a leading multination corporation.

Position: GIS integration consultant

Location: San Francisco CA 94103

Duration: 6 Months (Onsite can be hybrid)

From the client:

Our GIS team is looking for a GIS integration consultant for 6 months to support a shortterm project. A detailed scope of work is attached.

• Skillset: ArcGIS Pro software experience and knowledge along with GIS Fundamentals (basic GIS concepts geodatabases coordinate systems and projection).
• Python Programming: Consultant will need to write Python scripts to automate the process.
• ArcPy Library: Familiarity with ArcPy the Python library for ArcGIS is essential.
• Data Management: Ability to create file geodatabases feature datasets and import data.
• CAD Knowledge: Basic understanding of AutoCAD files and their components.

Tasks:

• Import a sample set of complex CAD drawings to validate the import process and get business sign off that the schema and data is complete in the target GIS feature dataset.
• Create a ArcPy script to read in all the drawings in the target directories and load the assets to the target. (Approximately 1000 .dwg files)
• Import entire dataset into agreed upon schema in the target feature Dataset. Ensure that the original CAD file name is part of each row.
• Deduplicate assets when they appear twice (this will happen on side streets where the same assets appear in multiple drawings).
• The duplication happens at all intersections

• The linework is not exactly aligned there appears to be an offset
• Consultant will need to explore a few options to determine how best to address the deduplication challenge in a manner that can be automated
• At least 40 hours to explore and present deduplication options
• Another 40 hours to further test and explore options after staff review
• Time estimates to implement deduplication should then be generated based on the approach discussed above
• Consultant will also need to aggregate or dissolve multiple records into one asset per business requirements. For example with continental crosswalks there will likely be a need to treat each crosswalk as one asset rather than nine individual assets one for each line.

• Review quality and completeness of import with business analysts and subject matter experts.
