Schedule: 8:00am4:30pm flexible start and end times
Reports to: Die Department Manager
Job Purpose
The Tool and Die Maker is responsible for assembling and trialing dies in the press using feed equipment. They are to develop and adjust as necessary in the press to ensure the best possible outcome.
Duties and Responsibilities
Assemble dies including lining up punches and cutting to steels.
Ensure compliance with all Company policies and procedures.
In press development including spotting panel matching and adjustments to achieve part specifications.
Set up dies in press along with coil and set up feeder for progressive dies.
Work with quality team and design group to determine the best possible fix to the out of spec area on the part.
Participate in design reviews with the design and floor groups.
Engage in Continuous Improvement within department to better the flow of work through the shop.
Travel to customer facilities as requested to support home line runoff.
Help train and guide new Toolmaker apprentices.
Unload/load trucks as required.
Paint/Stencil/Sticker/Wire dies as requested.
Weld any steels that require welding.
Maintain information in the press binders from each die trial to ensure good communication with the rest of the team.
Work with afternoon shift for a handoff in the press or on the floor to ensure smooth transition.
Use the viewer to view die designs as needed for press and floor work.
All other duties as requested by leader or manager.
Qualifications
Licensed Tool and Die Maker or equivalent experience.
Minimum 3 years press experience.
Forklift and overhead crane experience.
Able to communicate professionally with both external and internal groups.
Understanding of GD&T callouts/symbols.
Machining/grinding experience considered an asset.
Able to work overtime as required.
Working Conditions
Exposure to dust and noise in a manufacturing environment.
Travel to customer sites required.
Overtime up to 48 hours per week may be required including some work on weekends.
Physical Requirements
Extended time spent standing walking kneeling bending and crouching.
Operation of a forklift and overhead crane.
Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
