Job Description

Overview

As a VitreoRetinal Surgeon Ophthalmologist you will play a crucial role in diagnosing and treating diseases of the vitreous and retina. Your expertise and surgical skills will be essential in providing highquality care to patients and contributing to the success of our ophthalmology practice.

Key responsibilities

  • Performing vitreoretinal surgeries to treat conditions such as retinal detachment macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy.
  • Conducting comprehensive eye examinations to diagnose vitreoretinal diseases and develop treatment plans.
  • Collaborating with other healthcare professionals to provide integrated patient care.
  • Utilizing advanced surgical techniques and equipment to achieve optimal surgical outcomes.
  • Participating in clinical research and staying updated with the latest advancements in vitreoretinal treatment.
  • Providing pre and postoperative care including patient education and followup appointments.
  • Communicating effectively with patients and their families to address concerns and ensure informed decisionmaking.
  • Maintaining accurate medical records and documentation of procedures and patient progress.
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of clinical protocols and best practices.
  • Participating in professional development activities and continuing medical education.

Required qualifications

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Completion of a residency program in ophthalmology with a focus on vitreoretinal surgery.
  • Board certification or eligibility in ophthalmology and vitreoretinal surgery.
  • Licensure to practice medicine and surgery.
  • Demonstrated surgical expertise in vitreoretinal procedures through clinical experience and case volumes.
  • Strong understanding of ocular anatomy pathology and physiology related to vitreoretinal diseases.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for effective patient interactions.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Commitment to maintaining high ethical standards and patient confidentiality.
  • Detailoriented approach with keen attention to surgical precision and patient safety.
  • Willingness to stay updated on advancements in vitreoretinal surgery through ongoing learning and professional development.
  • Experience and proficiency in utilizing diagnostic tools such as OCT fundus photography and fluorescein angiography.
  • Adeptness in managing complex vitreoretinal cases and addressing surgical complications.
  • Proven ability to handle timesensitive and emergent vitreoretinal cases with calm and decisive actions.
