Technical Writer

Strong technical writing for ITSM (IT Service Management and ITAM IT Asset Management documentation. They need to live near Baltimore so they can come onsite 2 days a week if necessary.

Context

City Schools is taking a customer and business process approach to drive the development configuration and adoption of the new business processes and technologies associated with the initiative.

We are seeking an experienced technical writer for our ITSM and IT Asset Management program. You will work with functional Subject Matter Experts and Endusers.

We need everything in IT catalogued and to write the processes in order to keep everything organized while using the same process.

The successful candidate will write userfriendly copy or technical processes as well as assist in writing collaborative communications with change project and technical teams. You will work with these teams as they collaborate with users user groups and subject matter experts to create documentation that may include SOPs video scripts quick reference guides and training announcements.

Essential Functions

• Assist in Delivering ITSM (IT Systems Management) and ITAM (Asset Management) documentation.
• Collaborates with subject matter experts to incorporate standard operating procedures into training.
• Writes about technical subjects for nontechnical audiences.
• Creates scripts for video tutorials.
• Tests updates edits and proofreads written documentation.
• Adheres to inhouse style guide.
• Creates screenshot markups.
• Creates howto quick reference guides FAQs and help desk sections.
• Collects user data to determine areas of documentation that need revision and updating.
• May serve on quality design product development or user experience teams.
• Writes technical explanations that are understandable for Baltimore City Public Schools employees at all levels of expertise.
