Job Description

A leading public sector organisation is seeking committed and experienced Senior Social Worker Children Services to effectively assist and protect children young people families and carers and help them to achieve positive outcomes.

Client: Walsall
Job Title: Senior Social Worker Children Services
Location: Walsall
Duration of assignment: 3 months
Working hours: 37 Hours
Rate: 30.57 per hour
IR35 status: Inside IR35
Ideal start date: ASAP

Role Specific Duties and Accountabilities:

Practice within legislative frameworks and council policies under the supervision of the Team Manager.
Complete work within stated timescales as per national and local policy.
Manage a diverse workload working with vulnerable children young people families and carers with complex issues.
Ensure the needs are met and risks are managed to achieve the best outcomes for children and young people.
Advocate for children and young people ensuring their voices are heard and supporting their participation in appropriate forums.
Provide highquality and timely assessments and reports for Courts Child Protection Case Conferences Statutory Child in Care Reviews and other forums as directed.
Collaborate and develop good working relationships with children young people families carers colleagues and other agencies.
Maintain records in line with Council policy and procedure.
Actively participate in regular supervision and consultation with the Team Manager keeping them informed of significant issues.
Undertake safeguarding investigations attend strategy meetings case conferences and reviews as the lead professional when required.
Be accountable for personal progression and career development undertaking training and maintaining uptodate knowledge and skills.
Practice in an antidiscriminatory manner supporting diversity and equality.
Promote health safety and wellbeing in the workplace.
Perform duties in line with Social Work England Professional Standards.
Carry out any other duties required by the Team Manager commensurate with the grade of the post.



Requirements

Abilities/Skills:

  • Assess childrens and young people s needs and develop plans including for those in complex circumstances.
  • Extensive knowledge of current childcare legislation guidance and regulation.
  • Significant understanding of social work theory research policy and law including child development.
  • Ability to produce concise literate reports and plans using accepted agency frameworks.
  • Manage workload and priorities using initiative to respond to problems and unexpected situations seeking support from the Team Manager when necessary.
  • Undertake direct and life story work tailored to children s developmental stages identity and needs.
  • Provide parenting and family support interventions.
  • Write clearly and professionally for various audiences.
  • Work in partnership with other agencies to secure positive outcomes and help children young people families and carers access resources.
  • Develop positive working relationships through strong communication skills.
  • Critically reflect and analyze complex information to support decisionmaking and develop solutions.
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm and commitment to social work upholding social work values in accordance with the Professional Capabilities Framework Knowledge and Skills Framework and Social Work England Professional Standards.

Knowledge/Experience:

  • Direct experience working with children and young people.
  • Experience in assessment and interventions or support programs.
  • Knowledge of key theories and methods for working with children young people and families such as child development systems theory and restorative practice.
  • Uptodate knowledge of law policy research and guidance.

Qualifications:
  • Social work qualification (BA MA CQSW CSS DipSW).
  • Registration with Social Work England.
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for Social Work England reregistration.
  • Evidence of Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) completion if appropriate.
