Job Description

Manufacturing Engineer

The Manufacturing Engineer analyzes methods processes tools and systems essential for manufacturing and fabrication activities. This position also undertakes research and analysis concerning product customer marketing and system requirements to assess design feasibility. Reporting to the Quality Manager this role is based in Niles Illinois.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead small teams dedicated to continuous improvements offering technical expertise to resolve process issues.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with various departments including Engineering Quality and Supply Chain.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and part defects swiftly implementing corrective actions.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation such as work instructions and setup instructions.
  • Innovate new manufacturing equipment and processes including drafting equipment specifications.
  • Design fixtures jigs packaging and storage systems to enhance manufacturing efficiency and material handling.
  • Optimize manufacturing processes to boost quality material flow efficiency and reduce cycle and setup times.
  • Conduct training sessions for new and updated processes.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Electrical or Industrial Engineering.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of engineering experience in an industrial manufacturing setting.
  • Experience with developing installing and maintaining manufacturing equipment and processes.
  • Leadership experience in delivering costeffective solutions to manufacturing challenges.
  • Previous manufacturing or industrial engineering experience in an OEM environment is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in lean manufacturing principles JIT OEE line sequencing KANBAN etc.
  • Experience leading Kaizen events is highly desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and organizational aptitude.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in computer applications such as Microsoft Excel PowerPoint Word and CAD programs.
