Job Description

For our client a prominent technology firm we are seeking a Lead Engineer Energy Systems to join their esteemed corporate research department.

Location: Prague Czech Republic.

This pivotal role will lead research and development efforts in the field of Energy Systems driving technological advancements in distributed energy management systems grid intelligence electric vehicle charging infrastructure energy storage systems and alternative power generation and distribution.

Job Profile:

Companys Research Lab department is dedicated to pioneering new technologies for future products in various industries. They focus on conceptualizing evaluating and testing product ideas spanning from microcontroller software to largescale battery storage systems. As a member of the team youll collaborate with seasoned engineers leveraging your technical expertise to lead projects toward innovative solutions through simulation design development and testing.

Responsibilities:

  • The ideal candidate will be tasked with developing cuttingedge power conversion and power system solutions utilizing revolutionary technologies tailored for industrial automotive truck and aerospace sectors. Youll engage with stateoftheart electronics identifying and nurturing commercialization opportunities across diverse business areas.
  • Your key responsibilities will include conducting architecture studies overseeing protection and coordination aspects analyzing power flow and controlling power systems.
  • Additionally youll evaluate performance metrics assess sizing and degradation define protection requirements and conduct tests on battery storage systems including Battery Management Systems (BMS).
  • Furthermore youll play a vital role in developing and refining Energy Management Systems (EMS) while monitoring their onsite performance. Collaboration with mechanical thermal and firmware engineers will be essential to ensure successful design validation.
  • Youll be expected to generate technical reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders while also supporting and collaborating with external partners such as business divisions universities and customers.
  • Moreover youll contribute to the development of test cell facilities and associated hardware.
  • As the Lead Engineer youll take charge of project execution within the region collaborating on global initiatives under the guidance of the Technology Manager based in the same location.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in Electrical Engineering Software Engineering Controls or equivalent field.
  • Experience in energy systems.
  • Proficiency in grid/components protocols such as Modbus CANbus OCPP.
  • Strong background in modeling and simulations using tools like Matlab/Simulink PSCAD.
  • Familiarity with laboratory measurement and testing tools.
  • Demonstrated problemsolving skills utilizing logical methodologies to address diverse challenges.
  • Willingness to acquire new skills knowledge and expertise in relevant industries or products.

Qualifications: Msc. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent Minimum 3 years of experience in R&D - power electronics and electronics design (DC/DC converters) Modeling and simulation (Matlab, Plecs, Altium, Eagle, Spice) Strong understanding of circuit theory, containing power electronics (solid state circuit breaking) Experience in designing cutting-edge electronics (SiC, GaN (silicone-carbide, gallium nitride) Ability to demonstrate problem solving using logic and methods to tackle diverse problems
