Job Description

Overview

The Medical Director of Pulmonary Critical Care plays a critical role in leading managing and advancing the quality of care provided in the pulmonary critical care department. This position is integral to ensuring the optimal delivery of care providing medical expertise and leading the interdisciplinary team in a dynamic healthcare environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide medical leadership and oversight for the pulmonary critical care department.
  • Develop and implement clinical protocols policies and procedures to ensure highquality patient care.
  • Lead and actively participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes.
  • Collaborate with other medical directors and healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care.
  • Supervise and support the professional development of medical staff and interdisciplinary team members.
  • Participate in strategic planning and contribute to the development of clinical programs and services.
  • Oversee the allocation of department resources including budget management and equipment needs.
  • Participate in research activities and contribute to advanced medical knowledge in pulmonary critical care.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
  • Contribute to the development review and implementation of clinical policies and practice guidelines.
  • Provide mentorship and leadership to medical staff residents and fellows.
  • Participate in community outreach and education programs related to pulmonary critical care.
  • Collaborate with administration to support hospitalwide initiatives and goals.

Required qualifications

  • Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Board certification in pulmonary medicine and critical care medicine.
  • Active medical licensure with no restrictions.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience practicing pulmonary critical care medicine with progressive leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in clinical practice education and research in pulmonary critical care.
  • Proven track record of successful leadership and team management.
  • Strong communication collaboration and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt to and lead change in a complex healthcare environment.
  • Experience in quality improvement patient safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and education.
  • Experience in academic medicine and teaching medical students residents and fellows is preferred.
  • Knowledge of healthcare administration finance and budget management.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated commitment to evidencebased practice and continuous improvement.
Schedule and Shift Details
Fulltime role with call rotation 1 week per month ICU 1 week per month pulmonary consults Weekend coverage 1 in every 4 or 5 weeks 2 weeks per month in office
