Overview

Key responsibilities

• Proficiently translate written documents from German to English and vice versa
• Interpret verbal communication between German and English speakers during meetings or conferences
• Proofread and edit translated materials to ensure accuracy and cultural relevance
• Research and stay updated on German language usage idioms and cultural nuances
• Conduct language and cultural training for employees working with Germanspeaking clients
• Collaborate with internal teams to facilitate multilingual communication and understanding
• Participate in crossfunctional projects requiring German language expertise
• Serve as a language resource for Germanspeaking clients and partners
• Assist in localization of marketing materials and product documentation for the German market
• Contribute to developing and maintaining a glossary and style guide for German language content
• Provide language support for customer service inquiries and correspondence in German
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism while handling sensitive information
• Adhere to deadlines and manage multiple translation and interpretation projects simultaneously
• Utilize translation tools and software to enhance efficiency and accuracy
• Participate in continuous professional development and training to improve language skills and cultural knowledge

Required qualifications

• Native or nearnative proficiency in German and English languages
• Bachelors degree in German language linguistics translation or a related field
• Proven experience as a German language expert translator or interpreter
• Certification or professional training in translation or interpretation is a plus
• Solid understanding of German grammar syntax and vocabulary
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Cultural sensitivity and awareness of German etiquette and customs
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in translation and interpretation
• Familiarity with translation software and tools (e.g. CAT tools)
• Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively to meet deadlines
• Flexibility to adapt to evolving language and business requirements
• Demonstrated ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with integrity
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
• Willingness to engage in continuous professional development and language training
