Overview
A French Interpreter plays a crucial role in facilitating communication between individuals or groups who speak French and those who do not enabling effective and accurate exchange of information.
Key responsibilities
- Listen to speakers statements in one language interpret and restate them in another language.
- Translate written documents from French to the target language and vice versa.
- Convey tone intent and meaning accurately when interpreting between languages.
- Remain impartial and neutral at all times conveying the speakers message in an unbiased manner.
- Understand and apply industryspecific terminology when interpreting in specialized fields.
- Remain up to date with language developments and new terminologies to ensure accurate interpretations.
- Provide cultural guidance to clients or individuals when necessary to ensure accurate communication.
- Adhere to professional standards of confidentiality and impartiality at all times.
- Manage and maintain interpreting equipment and ensure its proper functioning.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance interpretation skills.
Required qualifications
- Fluency in French and the target language.
- Bachelors degree in Translation Interpretation Linguistics or a related field.
- Proven experience as a French Interpreter preferably in a professional setting.
- Excellent listening interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong knowledge of cultural nuances and nonverbal communication.
- Ability to stay focused and retain information during extensive periods of interpretation.
- Professional demeanor and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to handle highpressure and sensitive situations with discretion.
- Experience with interpretation equipment and software is a plus.
