Job Description

Our client in the legal industry is seeking a dedicated and detailoriented Employee Benefits and Retirement Plans Specialist. This role involves the daytoday management of our suite of employee benefits and retirement plans acting as the primary point of contact and subject matter expert for all related inquiries. The ideal candidate will ensure the smooth operation and administration of our benefits programs support employees with their benefits and retirement needs and maintain compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

NOTE: This role requires 34 inoffice work days per week

Key Responsibilities:
Benefits Management:
  • Oversee and manage employee benefits programs including medical dental vision HSA FSA group life insurance STD LTD pension and 401k plans.
  • Function as the primary point of contact for employee inquiries regarding benefits and retirement plans providing expert advice and support.
  • Consult with benefit vendors and the Firm Administrator to address and resolve issues promptly.
Administration and Compliance:
  • Update and maintain accurate enrollment and participation records for all benefits programs.
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing and monthly reconciliation of carrier invoices and submission of payment requests.
  • Manage all leave requests including FMLA and paid family leave ensuring compliance with firm policies and legal requirements.
Communication and Support:
  • Provide clear and timely communication to employees regarding benefits and retirement plans including plan provisions eligibility and enrollment assistance.
  • Develop and deliver retirement plan communications ensuring legal compliance and promoting employee participation.
Process Improvement and Projects:
  • Work with outside consultants on annual benefit plan renewals design changes and recommendations.
  • Execute various employee benefits projects including the creation of annual benefit guides and managing the Open Enrollment process from start to finish.
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of policies and procedures related to benefits and retirement programs.
Reporting and Documentation:
  • Write reports business correspondence and policy and procedure manuals as needed.
  • Ensure the collection and management of all relevant forms information and supporting documentation to facilitate timely approvals and tracking.
Team Collaboration and Professional Development:
  • Participate as a member of the Human Resources team attending staff meetings and supporting various department initiatives.
  • Stay informed about Human Resources trends particularly developments in retirement and employee benefits.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all Human Resourcesrelated information and other sensitive firm matters.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Act as the primary point of contact for reporting and processing Workers Compensation claims.
  • Perform other duties as required to support the Human Resources department and overall firm operations.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources Business Administration or related field.
  • Minimum of 35 years of experience managing employee benefits and retirement plans.
  • Strong knowledge of federal state and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detailoriented with strong organizational and timemanagement skills.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
