  In August 2022 a test automation project started! You will be responsible for promoting test automation for all our services.

  Your main responsibilities will include developing a test automation strategy and implementation. Additionally to achieve a balance between evolving UX fast release cycles and high quality you will plan and lead the adoption of new technologies and processes including expanding the scope of test automation.

  Specific Duties:

  Recruitment Background and Job Satisfaction:

  Our quality management team responsible for QA was formed in July 2021. Among them the test automation project started anew in August 2022!

  Working with the team leader you will drive business while communicating with various departments. As it is a new team there is considerable discretion and a significant position with great satisfaction.

  Current Initiatives:

  (1) We have started implementing appium for other apps on Android/iOS devices where elements can be obtained.

  Image recognition is also required to determine if actual images such as banners are displayed. Therefore we are proceeding with automation support using OpenCV an image recognition library.

  (2) We are also working on automating DLsite our main content using Playwright.

  There are PC and SP sites and SP site verification is done in the final QA stage. Therefore we are working on execution in the browser environment of Android and iOS smartphones rather than PC emulators.

  Challenges of Test Automation:

  Test automation can somewhat address the huge effort involved in manual testing and the variability in test quality (due to differences in how tests are conducted and verified). However there are still some challenges. The most significant challenge is the need to manually create test scripts. The creation of test scripts is required not only during initial development but also during revisions leading to increased maintenance effort. In some cases manual testing may have more significant benefits.

  • Our culture demands efficiency and focus during the 1018 work hours (7 hours actual work). (Overtime pay outside of these hours is provided on a perminute basis. Average overtime across the company is 20 hours/month.)

Setting up Jenkins Environment: By combining with Jenkins we can achieve operationalization of test automation allowing automated processing by simply executing JOB. This eliminates the need for manual command input or tool startup. Additionally it allows realtime execution of regression tests when functions are changed or added. Results and execution times are recorded per execution unit eliminating the need for manual recording.
