Finance Operations Senior Manager

Role purpose: Responsible for overseeing and managing the end-to-end Record to Report process within the Finance department, ensuring the accuracy and timely delivery of financial accounting. This involves managing the end-to-end process, including general ledger and month-end closing, and ensuring the trial Balance is promptly provided to the reporting team. The individual in this role is tasked with ensuring all balance sheet accounts align with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). Additionally, they are responsible for the maintenance, review, and enhancement of the finance operating model and processes related to Record to Report, intercompany transactions, revenue/margin accounting (including roaming and interconnect), both locally and at the Shared Services Centre. Responsibilities Key accountabilities and decision ownership: • Manage and lead the preparation and consolidation of financial statements in compliance with relevant accounting standards. Ensure the prompt and precise reporting to both internal and external stakeholders. • Oversee general ledger activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and close processes while ensuring adherence to accounting policies and procedures. • Review and approve local balance sheet reconciliations (and review those prepared by the Shared Service Centre for deferred revenue, interconnect, tax, receivables, Other Direct Costs accruals and OPEX accruals. Ensure supporting documentation is kept and reconciling items are cleared in a timely manner. • Establish and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets, ensuring regulatory compliance, and conduct periodic reviews to evaluate the effectiveness of these controls. • Ensure compliance with IFRS and Tax laws. And perform any additional project, task or activities assigned/delegated by the Line Manager. • Collaborate with both internal and external auditors, facilitating the audit process, addressing queries, and ensuring the prompt resolution of issues. • Efficiently streamline and optimize the Record to Report process, implementing best practices and continuous improvement initiatives to achieve process excellence. • Conduct financial and variance analyses to support decision-making, offering insights into both financial performance and trends. • Lead and manage a team of accounting professionals, offering guidance and mentorship, while cultivating a collaborative and high-performance team culture. • perform any additional project, task or activities assigned/delegated by the Line Manager. Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in accounting/commerce • Master’s is an advantage • Chartered Accountant certifications is mandatory • 10+ years of relevant and proven experience in financial accounting, reporting and management reporting, preferably in telecommunications industry • In-depth understanding of Telecom business, accounting principles, financial reporting, and regulatory requirements with an ability to articulate complex matters to Senior Management in a simple manner
