Job Description

Themis Recruit are seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Head of Commercial Property Department to lead and expand a thriving commercial property department. The firm is a Top Tier firm recognised in the Legal 500. The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of postqualification experience (PQE) in commercial property law with a proven track record of managing complex transactions and leading a successful team. This is a senior leadership role that requires strategic vision exceptional client management skills and the ability to drive business development initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Leadership and Management:

    • Provide strategic leadership to the Commercial Property Department setting and achieving departmental goals.
    • Supervise mentor and develop a team of solicitors paralegals and support staff.
    • Foster a collaborative and highperformance culture within the department.
  2. Client Relationship Management:

    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients providing highquality legal advice and support.
    • Act as the primary point of contact for major clients ensuring client satisfaction and retention.
    • Handle complex and highvalue commercial property transactions including acquisitions disposals leases and developments.
  3. Business Development:

    • Develop and implement strategies to grow the commercial property practice.
    • Identify and pursue new business opportunities including crossselling other services of the firm.
    • Represent the firm at networking events conferences and industry functions to enhance the firm s profile and generate new business leads.
  4. Legal Expertise and Practice Management:

    • Provide expert legal advice on all aspects of commercial property law including planning environmental issues landlord and tenant matters and property finance.
    • Ensure all work is carried out to the highest standards of accuracy and professionalism.
    • Stay abreast of changes in legislation and practice ensuring compliance and advising clients accordingly.
  5. Financial Management:

    • Manage the department s budget including forecasting monitoring and reporting on financial performance.
    • Drive profitability by improving operational efficiencies and ensuring optimal fee generation.
    • Oversee billing processes and manage credit control within the department.
  6. Compliance and Risk Management:

    • Ensure the department complies with all regulatory and legal requirements.
    • Implement and maintain robust risk management practices.
    • Handle any complaints or issues promptly and effectively maintaining the firm s reputation.


Requirements

  • Education: Qualified Solicitor with a current practising certificate.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years PQE in commercial property law with significant experience in managing complex transactions and leading teams.
  • Skills:
    • Exceptional leadership and management skills.
    • Strong client relationship management and business development abilities.
    • Indepth knowledge of commercial property law and related regulatory frameworks.
    • Excellent analytical negotiation and problemsolving skills.
    • Superior written and verbal communication skills.
    • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
