As an Academic Advisor you will play a crucial role in guiding and supporting students throughout their academic journey. Your role will involve providing personalized guidance to help students navigate their academic options set goals and make informed decisions to enhance their educational experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide academic advising to students on course selection degree requirements and academic policies
- Assist students in developing academic plans that align with their career goals
- Offer guidance on study skills time management and academic success strategies
- Monitor students academic progress and intervene when necessary to ensure their success
- Conduct informational sessions and workshops on academic planning and university policies
- Collaborate with faculty and other campus resources to support student success
- Address students questions and concerns related to academic matters
- Stay updated on academic program changes and university policies
- Participate in orientation programs and other student success initiatives
- Utilize advising technologies and resources to enhance student support
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Education Counseling Psychology or a related field
- Strong passion for supporting student success and development
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations
- Knowledge of academic requirements policies and procedures
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
- Experience in mentoring advising or teaching is a plus
- Proficiency in using academic advising software and tools
