Overview

Key responsibilities

• Provide academic guidance and support to students on program requirements course selection and academic goals.
• Assist students in developing educational plans and set academic objectives.
• Conduct oneonone advising sessions to address individual student needs and concerns.
• Assess students academic progress and provide appropriate interventions or referrals.
• Organize and facilitate workshops on study skills time management and academic success strategies.
• Collaborate with faculty and staff to enhance support services for students.
• Stay updated on academic policies degree requirements and curriculum changes.
• Monitor students academic performance and identify atrisk students for early intervention.
• Contribute to the development and improvement of academic advising resources and materials.
• Participate in orientation and registration activities to provide academic advising support.
• Keep accurate records of student interactions and advising sessions.
• Stay current with best practices in academic advising and student development.
• Participate in professional development activities and training related to academic advising.
• Support the institutions retention and student success initiatives.

Required qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Education Counseling Psychology or related field.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Empathy and ability to understand students needs and challenges.
• Ability to work with diverse student populations and support their academic goals.
• Knowledge of educational and career pathways study skills and academic success strategies.
• Experience in advising counseling or mentorship roles is a plus.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
• Proficiency in using academic advising resources and student information systems.
• Strong problemsolving skills and ability to provide effective solutions to students academic concerns.
• Commitment to providing equitable and inclusive academic advising services.
