Looking for an Oracle Exadata DBA!! Please refer to the manager notes thoroughly before sending in the candidates.

Role: Oracle Admin
Location: Washington DC (Only considering candidates local to the DMV area and candidates must be able to meet in person with me in Fairfax VA for verification to be considered for submission)
Shift: 3 days a week onsite

Manager notes

• Looking for 5 years exp with Oracle
• Exadata experience is most important
• they are moving from on prem oracle to the cloud so having any exposure to oracle cloud would be huge. If not regular Exadata plus any kind of cloud would be good
• Need basic scripting exp python or pash for automation
• Certs are not super important here just years of exp/knowing Exadata thoroughly is critical
• Really just a solid Exadata person is what he really needs they filled this one like a year ago the person found a perm position

Job Description
Terms of Reference (TOR) for Oracle Cloud (OCI) Exadata & DB Engineer
Objective:
The purpose of this TOR is to define the roles responsibilities and qualifications required for the Oracle Cloud Exadata Administrator. This position is critical for managing Oracle Exadata environments within Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) leveraging OCI Command Line tools DevOps practices and ensuring all systems are uptodate with the latest patches.
Roles and Responsibilities:

1. Database Management:
   • Install configure and maintain Oracle Exadata Database.
   • Ensure high availability and optimal performance of Oracle databases.
   • Manage database security including user access and encryption.
2. Cloud Operations:
   • Utilize OCI to manage cloud resources effectively.
   • Automate routine database administrative tasks using OCI Command Line Interface (CLI) and scripts.
   • Monitor and optimize the performance of cloud resources ensuring cost efficiency.
3. OCI Exadata Patching Activities:
   • Schedule and implement regular OCI Exadata patching in line with Oracles release schedule to ensure security and performance enhancements are applied.
   • Test patches in a nonproduction environment to verify functionality before widespread deployment.
   • Coordinate with IT and network teams to ensure minimal downtime and compliance with SLAs during patching windows.
   • Document patching activities including prepatching checks impact analysis patch application and postpatching tests.
4. DevOps Integration:
   • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for database code and schema changes to improve reliability and speed of deployments.
   • Work closely with development teams to ensure database operations integrate seamlessly with overall DevOps workflows.
   • Utilize modern containerization and orchestration technologies to enhance scalability and manageability.
5. Backup and Recovery on OCI:

• Implement and manage comprehensive backup procedures for all database systems.
• Regularly test recovery processes to ensure data integrity and availability.
• Optimize backup operations using OCI features and tools to ensure data redundancy and quick accessibility.

1. Disaster Recovery and Oracle Data Guard:

• Develop and maintain a disaster recovery plan that includes Oracle Data Guard for realtime data protection and failover capabilities.
• Configure and manage Data Guard to ensure high availability and disaster recovery across different geographical locations.
• Conduct regular DR drills to ensure the effectiveness of the disaster recovery procedures and adjust as necessary.

1. Project Management:
   • Lead planning and execution of database upgrade and migration projects.
   • Communicate effectively with project stakeholders providing updates and resolving issues promptly.
   • Prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation for all managed systems and procedures.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in computer science Information Technology or related field.
• Extensive experience as an Oracle Exadata Administrator and OCI certification
• Strong proficiency with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and OCI Command Line Interface.
• Demonstrated experience with patch management processes and best practices for Oracle Exadata.
• Familiarity with DevOps tools (e.g. Jenkins Git Azure DevOps) and methodologies.
• Relevant certifications in Oracle Database and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure are highly desirable.
