Job Description
Overview:
The Oracle Support L2 & L3 position is crucial to our organization as it provides advanced technical support to our clients using Oracle products. This role is responsible for resolving complex technical issues analyzing system performance and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
Database user account management:
o DB account creation
o Grant access rights on SYS and nonSYS objects
o Permission on folders log/trace files to Apps DBA
o Define and manage user profiles/policies
Database Software maintenance:
o Implement database patches in nonproduction and production
environment; execute test plan and rollback if necessary.
Database Monitoring:
o Monitor database log files for errors.
o Monitor database components affecting connectivity e.g. listeners
process and log.
o Monitor database backups
o Monitor database related OS/network parameters
o Monitor free space availability on the database server
Manage Database Capacity:
o Monitor growth rate of database objects and proactively resolve
space related errors.
o Monitor RDBMS log files and archive them in a timely fashion
o Monitor mount points to keep free space available on which
RDBMS files and database files are located.
o Relocate physical database objects for example datafile index
UNDO files as necessary to manage space on the server.
Manage Database Availability:
o Ensure availability of instance/database listeners log files space
of log files and other RDBMS related processes.
o Database Maintenance:
o Perform reindexing as necessary to improve database
performance.
o Generate statistics as needed for improved program for example
run Analyze statement in Oracle.
o Tune database parameters to improved performance
Manage Database Backup and Recovery:
o Plan and execute backup and recovery process for production and
nonproduction databases by utilizing Customer s backup
infrastructure.
o Troubleshoot database backup issues
o Perform database restore from backup as requested by Customer
Database High Availability management:
o Provide support for HA technologies like Oracle RAC SQL Cluster
Log shipping ASM Oracle Clusterware.
o Provide support for database replication technologies.
o Provide support for disaster recovery database technologies for
example Oracle Dataguard database mirroring Always ON.
o Provide support for Oracle Grid Control tool.
o Perform refresh/cloning/rebuilding of database
o Create new database/instance;
Database software installation:
o Estimate size and create directory structure on the server for
RDBMS installation
o Install and configure database software
o Install and configure HA such as Oracle RAC or Microsoft SQL
- Cluster
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor s degree in Computer Science Information Technology or related field
- 3 years of experience in Oracle technical support or related field
- Advanced knowledge of Oracle database administration and support
- Proficiency in SQL and PL/SQL scripting
- Experience in troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues
- Strong analytical and problemsolving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fastpaced environment
- Certifications such as Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) are a plus
- Knowledge of incident management and ITIL best practices
