Job Description

Overview:

The Primary Social Teacher plays a crucial role in educating and nurturing young minds particularly focusing on social development. They are responsible for creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment that encourages students to develop social skills while delivering quality education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement engaging lesson plans that focus on social skill development.
  • Facilitate discussions and activities that promote empathy teamwork and conflict resolution.
  • Assess students social and emotional growth and provide constructive feedback to both students and parents.
  • Collaborate with other educators to integrate social learning across the curriculum.
  • Manage classroom behavior and create a positive respectful atmosphere.
  • Utilize various teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles and developmental levels.
  • Stay updated on socialemotional learning research and incorporate best practices into teaching.
  • Participate in parentteacher conferences and communicate student progress effectively.
  • Organize and oversee social events and programs within the school community.
  • Monitor and support students social interactions during recess and free time.
  • Contribute to the development of schoolwide social and emotional learning initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate records of students social development and participation in activities.
  • Adhere to all school policies and procedures regarding student wellbeing and safety.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.
  • Collaborate with special education and support staff to address individual student needs.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Education or relevant field.
  • Valid teaching certification/license.
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching social skills to primary school students.
  • Indepth understanding of child development and socialemotional learning theories.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Strong classroom management skills with a focus on positive behavior reinforcement.
  • Capability to collaborate effectively with colleagues students and parents.
  • Adaptability and flexibility to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Knowledge of curriculum development with an emphasis on social education.
  • Empathy patience and a genuine passion for working with young children.
  • Familiarity with educational technology and its integration into teaching practices.
  • Understanding of assessment and evaluation procedures for social and emotional development.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional growth and learning.
  • Compliance with state and school regulations for teacher certification and background checks.
