Job Description

Overview:

The Community Medicine Associate/Assistant Professor plays a crucial role in educating and training medical students in public health practices community medicine and preventive healthcare. They are responsible for imparting knowledge and skills necessary for diagnosing treating and preventing diseases at a community level. Additionally they contribute to medical research and collaborate with healthcare organizations to improve public health outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver lectures tutorials and practical demonstrations for medical students
  • Conduct research in public health and community medicine
  • Supervise and mentor medical students interns and residents in clinical practice and research projects
  • Design and implement community health programs and initiatives
  • Evaluate and assess the performance of medical students and contribute to curriculum development
  • Collaborate with local healthcare organizations and community leaders to address public health issues
  • Participate in disease surveillance and contribute to epidemiological studies
  • Conduct public health campaigns and awareness programs
  • Participate in accreditation and quality improvement activities
  • Provide clinical care and consultation in community health settings
  • Contribute to administrative and committee responsibilities within the medical college
  • Stay updated with advancements in community medicine and public health practices
  • Participate in faculty development activities and continuous medical education
  • Engage in scholarly activities such as publishing research articles and presenting at conferences
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and ethical practices

Required Qualifications:

  • MD or DO degree in Community Medicine or related field
  • Board certification in Community Medicine or Public Health
  • Minimum 3 years of clinical experience in community medicine or public health practice
  • Evidence of scholarly activity such as publications and research projects
  • Experience in teaching and mentoring medical students interns or residents
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis and research methodology
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in designing and implementing community health programs
  • Knowledge of epidemiological methods and disease surveillance
  • Understanding of healthcare accreditation and quality improvement processes
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity equity and inclusion in healthcare
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary healthcare team
  • Licenses or certifications as required by the state or institution
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic academic and clinical environment
