Citizenship Requirements: Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Clearance Requirements: National Background Check with Inquires Fingerprints and

Drug Screen.

Type of Employment: FullTime 40 hours per week.

Estimate Pay: $26.65/hour.

Paid Time Off per Year: 40hours per year occurring on day one. Sick Leave per Year: 56hours per year occurring on day one. Paid Federal Holidays: Eleven (11) Paid Federal Holidays

Working Hours

The Phlebotomist will normally work from Monday through Thursday from 7:30am to 4:00pm with a 30minute unpaid lunch break. The Phlebotomist will not work more than 32 hours a week.

Summary of Duties

The Phlebotomist will provide Phlebotomy Services for the prison population at the Federal Correctional InstitutionJesup Jesup Georgia. This includes provided but not limited to collection of blood and urine samples preparation and tracking of all laboratory samples biological specimen preparation and packaging for shipment and maintaining laboratory logs and other records as necessary to comply with Clinical Laboratory Inspection Amendment (CLIA) guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Must be certification to practice in the state of Georgia as a Medical Assistant Laboratory Assistant Emergency Medical Technician or Phlebotomist.
  • Must provide proof of experience with specimen collection packaging and shipment to referral laboratories with knowledge of maintaining appropriate records.
  • Proof of experience of working in a correctional setting is preferred.
  • Three (3) letters of reference
  • Must be CardioPulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certified either by the American Red Cross (ARC)or the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Three (3) Letter of Reference is required.

Attire

The contractor is expected to wear professional clothing while on duty (scrub uniforms are approved). The attire worn shall also be appropriate for the correctional environment in which the contract employee will be performing.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist the Physician Physician Assistant and/or Nurse with patient flow in a clinic setting by measuring the patients vital signs and weight and scanning laboratory results in the Bureau Electronic Medical Record (BEMR).
  • Organize schedule and perform laboratory studies specimen collection and process within the Health Service Unit to include A&O inprocessing DNA per procedure vaccine programs and PPD updates.
  • Prepare and ensure specimens are packed and transported according to the contract or Bureau of Prisons (BOP) Reference Laboratory and document per Health Services Unit Laboratory Procedures.
  • Ensure that Laboratory requests are completed properly and all reports are returned from the contract Laboratory provider notified log results in as received follow up appropriately and file results in Laboratory and medical record.
  • Acquire and maintain knowledge of the Health Services Manual and Unit Procedures necessary to accomplish the mission described herein ensuring that the Laboratory Procedure Manual is updated accordingly.
  • Assist the Health Service Administrator (HSA) or his/her designee in the coordination of BOP and Contract Reference Lab contact CLIA recertification maintenance of equipment and notification of needed supplies.
  • Assist the HSA and Clinical Director with writing and implementing policies that deal with the laboratory program.
