What You Will Be Doing:
The Company is seeking a Geospatial Software Engineer with a focus on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Our team is dedicated to integrating spatial and location data seamlessly into digital products enabling advanced agricultural solutions for the farm of the future. As a Geospatial Software Engineer you will play a crucial role in designing and building big data solutions leveraging open source and cloudbased technologies within our Location360 enterprise initiative. Youll collaborate with various teams across the organization to develop largescale data processing systems and APIs driving innovation in geospatial data assets to support the Companys Field Platform and R&D product pipeline.
Responsibilities:
- Design build and support cloud and opensource systems for processing geospatial data assets via an APIbased platform.
- Collaborate with internal development communities to integrate necessary data sets into the asset making data available to Bayer Enterprise and internal development teams.
- Develop highly scalable APIs and associative architecture to support thousands of requests per second.
- Lead advancements in understanding environmental and external influences onfield performance and risk factors.
- Work across all stages of the software life cycle: Proof of Concept MVP Production and Deprecation.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science or relevant field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience with Go Python Java or similar languages.
- Proficiency in various programming or scripting languages such as Go Scala Java Javascript SQL Bash Python and/or R.
- Experience developing HTTP APIs (REST and/or GraphQL) in opensource technologies preferably in a cloud environment.
- Ability to build and maintain modern cloud architecture (e.g. AWS Google Cloud).
- Experience with PostgreSQL/PostGIS and code versioning systems (GitHub SVN Maven).
- Utilization of Docker for building and deploying within a CI/CD Environment preferably using Kubernetes.
Desired Skills & Experience:
- Masters degree in Computer Science or related field.
- 4 years with Golang and geospatial experience. Machine learning is a plus.
- Knowledge of opensource geospatial solutions like GeoServer GeoTrellis and GeoMesa.
- Experience with stream processing (e.g. Kafka) and agricultureoriented businesses.
- Demonstrated adaptability to new technologies and decisionmaking capabilities in hardware and software design.
- Proficiency in objectoriented design coding testing patterns and engineering software platforms and largescale data infrastructures.
- Creation of cloud computing solutions and web applications leveraging public and private APIs.
- Experience with distributed systems (e.g. Argo Kubernetes Spark) and Command Line Interface systems.
