Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct detailed inspections of machined parts and components to ensure they meet specified quality standards and tolerances using precision measuring tools and equipment.
  • Interpret and apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles to evaluate product compliance with engineering designs and specifications.
  • Maintain accurate inspection records and documentation reporting any discrepancies or nonconformances to the production team for immediate correction.
  • Initiate and participate in continuous improvement activities to enhance quality control processes and procedures within the machine shop.
  • Work autonomously to manage inspection schedules and tasks demonstrating initiative to identify and address quality issues proactively.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in quality inspection within a machine shop or manufacturing environment with a solid foundation in inspection techniques and practices.
  • Strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and its practical application in quality inspection.
  • Proficiency in using various measurement tools and equipment (e.g. calipers micrometers height gauges) to assess parts dimensions and tolerances.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications to ensure parts and components meet quality standards.
  • Capable of working independently with minimal supervision showing initiative and problemsolving skills to identify and resolve quality issues.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Formal training or certification in quality inspection quality control or a related field.
  • Experience with statistical process control (SPC) techniques and tools to monitor and improve manufacturing processes.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal with the ability to collaborate effectively with the manufacturing and engineering teams.
  • A proactive approach to quality assurance constantly seeking ways to improve processes and product quality.
