Urgent block - Psychiatrist needed in Canberra

The Role:

We are seeking motivated and experienced Consultant Psychiatrists to join a great supportive team in the Canberra region.

We are looking for Locum doctors at this facility.

This position will be attractive to highly skilled and motivated medical professionals who view challenges as opportunities and is driven by a passion to improve healthcare in the complex world of modern health systems.



About You:

• Current registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
• Fellow with Royal Australia & New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (essential)
• Provide high level of quality clinical care
• Demonstrated high level of professionalism and leadership skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

The Hospital:



The Canberra-based private mental health facility, to address pent up demand for local and accessible private mental health services in the ACT.

Also delivering the city s only private Young Adult mental health beds.

This new private hospital opened in early 2023.

The service model is focused on preventing avoidable hospital admissions and readmissions whilst supporting the patients recovery in the longer term through a range of innovative community based services which can be tailored to the patients needs.

Stage one comprises of 52 beds, group therapy rooms and doctors consulting suites.

Stage two is anticipated to expand the hospital to over 80 beds, with the completed project occupying a prime site adjacent to the John James Memorial Hospital Campus; co-located with the Deakin Health Hub, a 1,000sqm medical consulting facility.
