Job Description

Job Title: Senior Research & Development Engineer

Job Location: Highland IL

Job Type: FullTime (100% onsite)

Description:

Conducts engineering research and development focusing on electric power systems. Formulates innovative solutions to power systems challenges and applies novel techniques. Engages in conferences presentations and direct customer interactions related to product and application development. Strong communication and coordination skills are essential for providing technical advice to peers and management.

Responsibilities:

  • Generate new concepts and proposals for electrical power systems protection and control guided by principal engineers or management.
  • Assist customers and fellow engineers in conducting simulations and power systems studies.
  • Create detailed engineering specifications and proposals incorporating protection and control algorithms.
  • Design protection and control systems including coding for embedded applications.
  • Develop protection and control models algorithms and proposals to support project estimating and quoting phases for power systems products.
  • Contribute to defining design criteria for new products to meet customer requirements.
  • Direct and/or test design concepts through simulation or prototypes conducting design reviews as needed.
  • Record design test data and periodically review the overall design concept.
  • Write theory of operation documentation.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with industrystandard simulation tools.
  • Represent Power Systems engineering internally and externally to customers government agencies and professional organizations.
  • Actively participate in industry organizations to support and promote the company in its target industries and markets.
  • Supervise and coordinate engineers and technicians assigned to specific projects.
  • Travel as necessary for business development new product solutions technology existing products and application expertise.
  • Fulfill other duties as required or assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or equivalent.
  • 6 years of experience in electrical power systems protection and control design and/or analysis.
  • Ability to define problems collect data draw valid conclusions and apply advanced mathematical principles.
  • Proficient in computer skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for report writing business correspondence and procedures.
  • Effective presentation skills for conveying information to various audiences including managers clients customers and the public.
