The Role:
We are seeking dedicated Consultant/Specialist Physicians in General Medicine/Geriatric Medicine/Infectious Diseases Medicine/Oncology/Nephrology to work in Australia's Top Tourism Town for 2023.

• $336,466 - $427,886 p.a. pro rata

General Medicine
Service offers patients inpatient and outpatient care for elective and acute admissions from the Emergency Department. The unit also receives consultations for the following medical specialities - Cardiology, Dermatology, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Geriatric, Haematology, Immunology, Neurology, Respiratory, Rehabilitation and Palliative Care.
Medical unit offers 12 beds for Rehab and 5 beds for Palliative Care

Geriatrics
The Geriatric service provides inpatient and outpatient care including nursing and memory clinics and is supported by a multidisciplinary team that caters for short- and long-term admissions and active assessment and rehabilitation services for inpatients.

Infectious Diseases
The Infectious Diseases service provides in person consultation for inpatients and outpatient clinics. The service is supported by a dedicated team of nursing staff as well as the Fiona Stanley Infectious Diseases Team for on-call consultations.

Nephrology
This unit accepts referral for renal patients in the region requiring dialysis. The renal service provides treatment for patients requiring dialysis in a same day admission and a consultation service to renal patients admitted under General Medicine or Surgery. The unit also provides outpatients with a clinic consultancy service.

Medical Oncology
The Oncology service provides same day hospital admissions for chemotherapy as well as some outpatient medical oncology services. Consultancy services are provided for patients admitted with other multiday admissions requiring their usual Chemotherapy and to patients admitted under General Medicine or Surgery e.g., tunnelled ports and lines. The service is supported by specialist McGrath foundation nurses who provide outpatient clinics and consultancy. Patients are referred to the Genesis Cancer Centre for their radiotherapy and if escalation in care is required, they are referred to or Fiona Stanley Hospital.

Hospital:
A general hospital treating on average more than 23000 inpatients annually.
Transitioning the hospital to public hands paves the way for the hospital s redevelopment and service transformation to meet the needs of the region.

Essential Selection Criteria

1. Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia and Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) (General Medicine) or equivalent.
2. Demonstrated extensive knowledge, clinical experience, judgement and skills in the practice of medicine including in associated diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
3. Demonstrated experience in clinical teaching, audit and clinical research.
4. Demonstrated ability to provide leadership, facilitate effective multidisciplinary teamwork and provide patient centric care.
5. Demonstrated high level communication, interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.

Desirable Selection Criteria
Post final fellowship sub-specialty, education, research or quality improvement training or qualifications (i.e. Geriatric Medicine, Infectious Diseases, Medical Oncology, Nephrology).
