Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities:

  1. Site Planning and Layout:
    • Design and plan the layout of the retail food outlet ensuring optimal flow for both customers and staff.
    • Incorporate safety and hygiene considerations into the layout design.
  2. Utility Management:
    • Oversee the installation and maintenance of utilities including water drainage and ventilation systems tailored to the needs of a food preparation environment.
  3. Compliance with Food Safety Standards:
    • Ensure the construction adheres to local and national food safety and hygiene standards.
    • Implement design elements that facilitate easy cleaning and maintenance to meet health regulations.
  4. Kitchen Design and Equipment Integration:
    • Collaborate with kitchen designers to create an efficient and functional kitchen layout.
    • Oversee the proper installation and integration of commercial kitchen equipment.
  5. Waste Management:
    • Design waste disposal systems that comply with environmental regulations and industry best practices.
    • Plan for efficient waste storage and recycling solutions.
  6. Accessibility and Inclusivity:
    • Ensure the retail outlet is accessible to all including those with disabilities.
    • Design customer areas seating and waiting spaces with inclusivity in mind.
  7. Project Coordination:
    • Collaborate with architects interior designers and contractors to ensure seamless project execution.
    • Monitor progress resolve constructionrelated issues and ensure the project stays within budget and timelines.


Requirements

Requirements:

  1. Education:
    • Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  2. Experience:
    • Previous experience in the design and construction of retail food outlets.
  3. Knowledge of Food Industry Regulations:
    • Familiarity with local and national regulations pertaining to the food industry.
  4. Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar design software.
    • Strong understanding of construction materials and methods.
  5. Communication Skills:
    • Effective communication skills for collaboration with various stakeholders.
  6. ProblemSolving Abilities:
    • Strong problemsolving skills to address challenges in construction projects.
  7. Creativity and Innovation:
    • Ability to bring creative and innovative solutions to design challenges specific to retail food outlets.
