Job Description

We are Nium: A nanoscientist an engineer and an entrepreneur. We founded Nium a nanotechnology company at Carbon13 the Venture Builder for the Climate Emergency in the summer 2022 to eliminate greenhouse gases at a massive scale: at leasttonnes CO2e a year by 2030 and exponentially thereafter. We are looking for people to chance to grow fast with a fast growing company working on the number one problem we all face.

The Role

We are looking for a Lead Process Engineer who is comfortable in first of a kind process design. You will specialise in concept to delivery process design focused on ammonia synthesis.

The role will be heavily involved in implementing Niums novel process. You will lead the process engineering of the Nium Minions that are being developed in conjunction with different pilot and commercial projects.

You will be comfortable with concept design and idea generation within the operational confines of the system. From designing the process alongside the supplyside projects to dealing with suppliers and ensuring project delivery.

Tasks

  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams (both internal and external) to conceptualise design and implement cuttingedge ammonia system processes that align with sustainability goals and regulatory standards.
  • Design and conduct experiments to validate process performance troubleshoot operational challenges and refine process parameters.
  • Assist in the preparation of technical reports presentations and documentation to communicate results insights and progress to both internal and external audiences.
  • Analyse data and perform indepth technical evaluations to identify areas for process improvement and optimization aiming for enhanced energy efficiency and reduced environmental impact.
  • Ability to support safety risk studies and other key analysis such as HAZOP HAZID QRA SIL and so forth.
  • Lead or be part of project and study teams according to the work scope.
  • Support business development through technical input into proposals inc LCOA and other cost analysis
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship fostering a culture of innovation collaboration and infinite invention

Requirements

  • Relevant engineering degree (ideally chemical engineering) or relevant work experience
  • Proven experience as a process engineer ideally in hydrogen other emerging fuels such as methanol ammonia CCUS or alternatively in oil & gas or equivalent.
  • Proven ability successfully delivering projects
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively within interdisciplinary teams and convey technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • A forwardthinking mindset with a passion for contributing to the advancement of sustainable energy solutions.

Nice to have:

  • Experience with process simulation tools (like Aspen)
  • Professional certifications (e.g. Chartered Engineer status) and involvement in industry associations is a plus.
