Job Description

Mechanical Drafter 4 ,

Location : Chillicothe, IL /CAT ONSITE.

Salary: $50,000 - $55,000 (MAX.)

(US citizen/ GC ONLY)

NOTE: MUST HAVE INFO MMDD of the candidate.

Position's Contributions to Work Group:

The Electronic Components and Harness Technician/Engineering position has prototype harness design and construction responsibility for Caterpillar machines and engines. The position is key to supporting machine and engine early-learner, machine testbed harness, pilot machine harness manufacturing while working closely with various product teams at Caterpillar. This will involve working closely with engineering and commercial teams. The position requires a person who is adept working with hand tools in a production environment, as well possess a background in harness design and a proven proficiency in the use of CAD software, specifically Creo (or Pro/E).

The position develops, assembles, manufactures, works to improve, and troubleshoots electrical wire harnesses assemblies, which will be used in an array of engine and machine systems. This includes a mix of new product development, technology selection, defining and verifying requirements, problem solving and support of engineering projects. Some activities may be performed in partnership with a supplier including and may involve manufacturing plan and process development. This position performs analysis work, identifies design problems, and resolves them.

This position works closely with Engine and Machine System/Subsystem product team members to produce prototype harnesses.

The candidate will be responsible for adapting 3D harness designs from the product teams to 2D production drawings. From the product team information, he/she will apply information and instructions to the 2D drawings which is intended to enable production of the harness.

Typical task breakdown:

Initially, working closely with the prototype lab operations manager, learn to adapt 3D harness designs from the product teams to 2D production drawing, which are suited for harness production.

Apply practical harness product expertise to help team problem solving, which aren't always technical in nature. Will require working with client team members from various product teams within Caterpillar to refine designs.

Maintain an enterprise viewpoint to continue to prioritize quality, improve product cost, and minimize risk.

Within the scope of New Technology Introduction (NTI) and New Product Introduction (NPI) workflow ensure that the team can support all of Caterpillar's prototype needs in concert with machine and engine development timelines.

When necessary, plan and coordinate product testing in concert with program needs

Interaction with team:

As an engineering technician he/she is expected to provide technical leadership to a production environment. The person will need to be adept at collaborating within the team, exhibit a high level of initiative, work as a constructive and contributing team member with the unified goal to deliver on commitments to clients.

Candidate Requirements

Education & Experience Required:

- Minimum 2 year Engineering Tech degree with emphasis in the fields of mechanical or electrical engineering with minimum six years' experience

- Bachelor's in Engineering would be considered as two years' experience (four years' minimum work experience required with Bachelor's)

- Master's or above would be considered overqualified.

- 2-5 years harness design or harness production experience

- 1-3 years CREO or Pro/E experience.

Technical Skills

2-5 years harness design or harness production experience

Demonstrated proficiency with CAD, specifically CREO (PRO/E) (1-3 years CREO or Pro/E experience)

Excellent mechanical and electrical / electronic aptitude and troubleshooting skills

Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and retain pertinent information, and apply it to everyday work.

Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information concisely and accurately

Computer skills to support job requirements

Desired

Have working knowledge of the operation of CAT products and it's electrical and control systems and can troubleshoot issues within these systems

.Soft Skills

Incumbents must have demonstrated excellent analytical and project leadership skills and possess the ability to perform complex assignments.

Must have strong problem-solving skills and analytical skills and the ability to communicate technical information effectively to people with various backgrounds

Demonstrated proficiency managing multiple projects and tasks simultaneously

Disqualifiers/Red Flags:

Lacking accountability, unable to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Having harness experience without Creo experienc
