Position Description:
Responsible for overall coordination, status reporting and stability of project-oriented work efforts. Establishes and implements sound project management processes and methodologies to ensure the project is delivered on time, within budget, adhere to high quality standards, and meet customer expectations. Responsible for assembling project plans and teamwork assignments, directing and monitoring work efforts on a daily basis, identifying resource needs, performing quality review; and escalating functional, quality, timeline issues appropriately. Responsible for tracking key project milestones and adjusting project plans and/or resources to meet the needs of customer. Coordinates communication with all areas of the enterprise that impacts the scope, budget, risk and resources of the work effort being managed. Must possess extensive knowledge and expertise in the use of project management methodologies and tools, resource management practices and change management techniques. This is a senior project leadership position for a very sensitive and highly visible project, and it requires an experienced and disciplined project manager. The project Manager must be skilled in identifying project risks, problems, or deficiencies early in their formation and proactively and aggressively address the issues. A major responsibility will be to manage the customer's expectations and avoiding scope creep. Communication and negotiation skills are crucial to bridge the gap between what the customer desires and what the vendor can provide within the scope of the project. The candidate selected for this position will be someone who is well versed in recognizing where deficiencies in the project management process have begun to surface and how to resolve them.

Working with offsite IT solution providers (software vendors). Working with non-IT (business/functional) stakeholders. Restoration of projects that are failing to meet the stated objectives. Working with stakeholders from various business areas
Education Required:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or other related field. Or equivalent work experience. Project Management certification or successful completion of a recognized project management curriculum is required
Additional Information:
The Project Manager will be dedicated to a single project with the purpose of deploying a vendor's solution for initiating and processing federal grants. The solution is a configurable online software system that is used by many grant management organizations across the country. This project does not include major software development, as the core system is already built. Instead, this project is focused on configuring the workflows and associated functional modules to meet the organization's unique business requirements. The configuration and deployment of this system is occurring in phases, with time-sensitive capabilities being deployed first. While this project does not require complex technology expertise from the Project Manager, it does require expertise in articulating business process workflows, which some are complex. The project has a very high level of visibility and is the organization's highest priority. A proven track record is required of the project manager.
