Position Title: Temporary Program Coordinator, Issue Advocacy

Reports to: Manira Alva, VP Issue Advocacy

Today, Vital Voices has a staff of nearly 80 headquartered in Washington, DC. We ve recently been working to dramatically scale our impact in accordance with our bold vision. In early 2022, we opened the first ever Global Headquarters for Women s Leadership, a 30,000+ sq. ft. historic building just blocks from the White House on 16th Street. It is a hub of activity, events, and collaborations — bringing together women leaders and their allies to tackle the world s greatest challenges.

Summary

The Temporary Program Coordinator will work directly under the supervision and guidance of the VP of Issue Advocacy to plan and coordinate the Global Climate Convening, a partnership between Vital Voices and The Rockefeller Foundation. This project will bring together women leaders working on the human impact of the climate emergency by giving them a virtual forum in which they will develop priorities, create individual advocacy plans, draw up an action plan for governments to better engage women in climate negotiations. This position will be responsible for coordinating event logistics, managing communications between participants and VV staff, creating event materials, scheduling transportation and serving as a primary point of contact for participants. This position is based in Washington, DC with the option of a hybrid work schedule. We are not accepting remote candidates at this time.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Event Coordination: Support program and event planning and execution, including logistical preparations, technological support, participant tracking, and development of agendas, content, and materials for in-person and virtual events for international settings.
  • Communications: Serve as a primary point of contact for program participants and VV staff, share relevant event information, write email correspondence in adherence to the VV best practices, create one pagers and concept notes.
  • Relationship Management: Identify and liaise with key stakeholders and partners. Maintain contact and relationships with organizations, individuals, and participants on VV s behalf.
  • Reporting: Provide relevant updates and reports to internal staff, collaborate with MERL staff to assess program effectiveness.
  • DE&I Commitment: Embrace and model the Vital Voices guiding principles, values, investment, and leadership models with the goal of supporting Vital Voices organization culture and success;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor s degree in international relations or a related field, plus 2-4 years of relevant work experience required, OR Graduate degree in in international relations or a related field, plus 1 years of work experience REQUIRED;
  • Strong demonstrated experience in global women s issues, refugee issues, and human rights;
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills in English;
  • Excellent oral and written communications in the English language;
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, swiftly shift priorities, and work in a dynamic environment with tight deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a dynamic team;
  • Strong computer skills including MS Office applications (esp. Excel, Word, and PowerPoint), social networking tools, and database software (i.e., Salesforce).
  • Experience working cross-functionally to support key objectives and to help team members

This position is a part-time, non-exempt position. If and when it is safe to travel, domestic and international travel up to 10% may be required for the position.

The starting salary range for this position is $59,635 $72,888 based on experience and ability to have broad impact early. The schedule for this role is as follows:

  • November 20 hours per week
  • Dec 1 through Dec 10 40 hours per week
  • Dec 10 through March 31 20 hours per week
