Job Description

Do you hold a C-7 (Low voltage) or C-10 (High voltage) contractor's license in the state of CA? Do you have a current CA Voice/Data/Video Technician Certificate?

The Network Service Technician is a front-line, hands-on position managing all aspects of installation and maintenance of on-site equipment at the client location in the territory. This includes the installation of low-voltage wiring by creating raceways and pulling cable, as well as mounting and testing other on-site equipment. The Network Service Technician is also responsible for troubleshooting and repairing previously installed networks and equipment as needed.

As a Network Service Technician, you will work with other departments within the company and several outside vendors and service providers to ensure that our services are operational and that responses to client issues are provided in a timely manner. Resolution of issues will be documented in a knowledge base and company intranet. Additional duties may also be assigned as needed.

Network Service Technician Primary Responsibilities:
  • Work with the Installation Manager to determine the equipment needs and installation schedule.
  • Work with and supervise outside vendors to ensure installations are completed to company standards.
  • Create raceways and pull low-voltage cable (Ethernet, fiber, telephone, etc.) throughout commercial buildings.
  • Terminate and test cable drops.
  • Install network racks, switches, and other network or telephone equipment according to installation plans.
  • Install, terminate, and test analog telephone wiring blocks.
  • Troubleshoot and correct network issues at the physical, data link, and network layers.
  • Troubleshoot and correct problems with analog telephone wiring.
  • Replace parts as needed to repair and service company-owned infrastructure and devices.
  • Create and maintain documentation with a mission to improve organizational knowledge.
  • Work with other staff, vendors, and service providers to promptly resolve all issues.
  • Work with warehouse staff to prepare equipment for upcoming installations.
  • Develop a strong knowledge of all technical infrastructure, including local and remote networks.
Network Service Technician Requirements:
  • You will need a C-7 (Low voltage) or C-10 (High voltage) contractor's license in the state of CA.
  • You will need a current CA Voice/Data/Video Technician Certificate.
  • 3-5 years of previous experience working in a field services role (cabling, on-site equipment installation and maintenance, etc.).
  • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting physical plant (network and telephone wiring, basic network troubleshooting, etc.)
  • Must be comfortable speaking on the phone with clients and other vendors to coordinate facility access, troubleshooting, etc.
  • Must have strong written and oral communication skills and clearly convey technical concepts to other team members and clients.
  • Strong troubleshooting ability: This is a technical installation and support position, and you will be required to solve technical problems, sometimes with limited information. If you dislike solving problems, this position isn't for you.
  • Must be detail-oriented, organized, motivated, independent, and able to work with minimal or no direct supervision.
  • Ability to adhere to field services policies, company policies, and procedures.
  • Must have a positive, professional attitude.
  • Ability to juggle multiple issues or projects at once.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts and to adapt to changing work schedules.
  • Must be able to read, write, and clearly speak English.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check for access to remote sites as needed.
  • Must have reliable transportation and the ability to report to your assigned client office on time, as directed, with minimal or no supervision.
  • Must have a driver's license and a clear driving record.
  • Basic working knowledge of IP networking (IP addressing, ping, traceroute, etc.) is a huge plus.

Salary: Starting $75,000-$85,000 per year
