Mid-Level Transactional Attorney

Our client is a boutique, full-service law firm focused on the needs of New York s hospitality industry.
The firm is seeking a mid-level transactional attorney to join our real estate/transactional group.
Responsibilities:
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating retail leases with a focus on tenant representation.
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating ancillary documents - for example, term sheet/letter of intent, assignment of lease, amendment of lease, and surrender of lease
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating asset purchase agreements, including but not limited to term sheet/letter of intent, due diligence, lease negotiation, and closing (sell and buy-side representation).
- Communicating directly with clients and counseling them on transactional strategies and offering legal risk assessments.
- Supporting transactions and due diligence.
Requirements
- 3-6 years of real estate transactional experience
- Excellent legal drafter
- Proactive, energetic, and hardworking team player (ideally with a passion for food and the hospitality industry)
- Candidate must have the ability to manage multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment and possess exceptional oral and written communication skills.
- Candidate must be admitted to practice law in the State of New York and possess a J.D. from an accredited law school.
- The candidate must reside within commuting distance of Manhattan, New York, or be willing to relocate.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES Superior intellect and quick grasp of complex legal issues, as evidenced by superior grades in law school and/or work experience in similar settings. Strong work ethic and willingness to work as needed to get any task done. Good organizational and project management skills. Proficient in the use of on-line legal research services and legal resources. Superior legal writing skills. Excellent oral communication. Must have sound judgment. Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision. Demonstrates expertise in a variety of the field s concepts, practices, and procedures. Ability to work collaboratively and as a member of a team with internal and external contacts. Ability to adapt to a changing environment and situations. Proven willingness to work hard in a fast-paced atmosphere. Experience with use of document/discovery databases (e.g. Relativity). EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND/OR TRAINING Must be a graduate of an accredited law school. Admitted to practice law in the State of Michigan or ability to obtain admission upon commencement of employment.
