Senior Accountant

Hiring a Senior Accountant for an premier, independent preparatory school based in the San Mateo area with over 75 years of history. Position is direct hire, in office and reports to the CFO. Ideal candidate would bring indepth experience i from the nonprofit or education space. Salary range is 95 -105K with competitive benefits including 100% paid employee medical, dependent coverage, generous PTO and paid company closures.

Position Summary

• Monthly closing of the GL and preparation of all supporting schedules.
• Quarterly budget reporting and analytics.
• Annual audit schedules.
• Assist with the Budget coordination and variance reports.
• Preparation of Journal Entries, GL accounts maintenance and analysis
• Bank reconciliations of multiple bank accounts including sweep accounts
• Investment Account Reconciliations, including Endowment Funds
• Monthly reconciliation of capital campaign funds, incoming revenue sources, all Balance Sheet Accounts
• Payroll related import and journal entries/reconciliations
• Monthly review and reconciliation of gift entries and posting to GL
• Quarterly reconciliation of Payroll tax returns to the GL
• Primary liaison for annual financial statement audit and pension plan audit
• Monthly reconciling of Tuition Management billing system and GL

Qualifications:

• Bachelor degree in Accounting is required; CPA certification or audit experience in public accounting firms preferred
• 5+ years experience in non-profit accounting
• A clear understanding of GAAP relative to donor gifts of various types including endowment gifts.
• Proficiency in Excel required, experience with Blackbaud Accounting System a plus
