Insurance Associate Position Description
Reports to: Vice President of Safety, HR, and Employee Development
Hours: 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., unless otherwise dictated
Job Location: 3500 Alum Creek Drive, Columbus OH, 43207
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for working with our insurance broker to obtain COIs in accordance with project contract language;
- Checks the accuracy of COIs in accordance with project contract language;
- Organize and file COIs;
- Obtain sample subcontractor COIs and provides them to Igel’s Contract Manager for distribution to subcontractors;
- Works with the Contract Administrator to track the receipt of appropriate COIs from Igel subcontractors by project;
- Maintains various tracking Excel sheets for compliance with insurance requirements;
- Track when COIs are set to expire and communicate the need for updated certificates to the Company’s broker as well as controlling parties for wrap-up insurance programs;
- Responds to client requests for proof of insurance and additional endorsements as needed;
- Provides follow-up calls to claimants to obtain details regarding potential insurance claims against the Company;
- Keeps detailed notes regarding claimant correspondence and communicate any issues to the Safety, Project Management, and Finance departments as appropriate;
- Tracks changes made to the required insurance language for projects and eliminate duplication of records as appropriate;
- Participate in the annual renewal process for business lines of insurance by updating forms and obtaining supporting documentation as requested;
- Processes insurance charges against the appropriate project where costs were incurred
- Furnishes COIs to the Finance Department as appropriate when they are expiring to maintain compliance for proper payment;
- Inputs monthly payroll information to appropriate wrap-up program online portals by the 10th of the following month;
- Work with Accounts Payable to ensure that truckers, subcontractors, and other vendors have furnished the Company a COI;
- Know and adhere to all company policies and procedures;
Other duties as assigned.
Any deviation of job responsibilities must be first cleared by the Vice of President of Safety, HR, and Employee Development.
Minimum Qualifications
- Be fully computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office
- Be exceptionally detail-oriented
- Knowledge and familiarity with Acord 25 forms
- Ability to manage varying numbers of projects at any given time
- Ability to differentiate between traditionally insured projects and wrap-up insurance programs
- 3-5 years of related experience with insurance
Preferred Qualifications
- CRIS certification or interest in pursuing
- Knowledge of basic construction contract language
