Sr Network Engineer

Position Type: Direct hire, fulltime

Location: 1449 S Michigan Ave, Chicago, IL 60605; mostly remote, but should be able to come to the office in downtown Chicago, IL and travel to client sites in Chicagoland

Job Description:

As a Senior Network Engineer, you will be responsible for setting up, maintaining, and supporting networks at client sites. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability, security, and efficiency of our clients' network infrastructures. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in networking, particularly with Fortinet and Meraki technologies, as well as expertise in Microsoft technologies, including on-premises servers, Azure, and M365.

Responsibilities:

1. Network Setup and Configuration: Install, configure, and maintain networking equipment, including routers, switches, firewalls, and access points, at client sites. Ensure network connectivity, security, and performance.
2. Network Maintenance: Proactively monitor and optimize network performance, addressing issues as they arise. Perform routine maintenance and updates to keep networks up to date and secure.
3. Networking Subject Matter Expert (SME): Act as a go-to expert for all networking-related matters within the team. Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and colleagues when needed.
4. Client Support: Provide timely and efficient technical support to clients, addressing network-related issues and troubleshooting network problems to resolution. Ensure client satisfaction and maintain positive relationships.
5. Microsoft Integration: Leverage expertise in Microsoft technologies, including on-premises servers, Azure, and M365, to seamlessly integrate network systems with Microsoft environments.
6. Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of network configurations, changes, and troubleshooting procedures. Ensure knowledge transfer within the team.
7. Vendor Collaboration: Collaborate with vendors such as FortiNet and Meraki to stay current with product updates, resolve technical issues, and enhance network security and performance.
8. Project Management: Lead network-related projects, from planning and design to implementation, ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget.
9. Security and Compliance: Implement and enforce network security policies, including firewalls, access controls, and intrusion detection systems. Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, Fortinet, Meraki, Microsoft) are a plus.
• Proven experience in a Managed Service Provider (MSP) environment.
• Expertise in networking technologies, with a focus on Fortinet and Meraki products.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft technologies, including Windows Server, Azure, and M365.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Project management experience is a plus.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to stay updated with the latest networking and security trends.
