Our team is looking for a skilled writer and researcher with an eye for detail and an understanding of the special requirements of web writing and design; work well independently and in a collaborative team environment; be creative and knowledgeable about trends in public history research, current events, cultural heritage institutions, and related fields.
Responsibilities
Produce and publish new content in a creative way
Oversee layout (images, graphics, videos and artwork)
Optimize web content for end user performance. Work may include reformatting text, assuring hyperlink integrity, transferring and translating files, and posting of new material to the page involving HTML scripting. May maintain web site content and information flow.
Find, diagnose, and fix website content problems, including broken links, typographical errors, and formatting inconsistencies.
Check content for accuracy
Proofread and edit material
Collaborate with colleagues to improve article presentation
Optimize existing website content for SEO best practices and ensure content is up-to-date
Comply with copyright and privacy regulations
Monitor and report website analytics and traffic to measure impact
Keep track of developments in web technology
Requirements
Proven work experience as a web editor;
Experience with HTML
Excellent writing, research, and editing skills with a demonstrable portfolio of published work
Demonstrated experience with MS Office, Adobe Creative Suite, or other publishing and design tools
In-depth knowledge of SEO
Familiarity with Drupal and other content management systems
Strong attention to detail
Creative and curious mind
Degree in journalism, communications or related field
Hybrid role, M-F.
