Job Description

Job Description: Personal Injury Law Firm looking for a nurse or former nurse to act in the capacity of a medical records coordinator.

About Us: We’re a personal injury boutique law-firm that was founded in 2003.  Our promise to our clients is that we will champion their case with integrity, courage, compassion, and diligence.  Unlike most firms, we actually try cases in front of juries and have been in the top 100 verdicts in Texas twice.  Our reputation for caring, brutal honesty, and hard work separates us from other “trial lawyers.”  While doctors repair our clients’ broken bodies, we work to make sure the guilty party will pay for those medical bills and the damage wrought on our clients’ lives.

We have a relaxed culture where we strive to attain a work-life balance.  That means we rarely work more than 40 hours a week (the exception would be when trial is imminent).  We will start with a 90-day trial period.

The position is part time.  We do offer flexible scheduling and remote work after a 2-week training period.

We have a weekly, 1 hour in person meeting that is a requirement.  Typically it is on Monday or Tuesday morning at 10:30 a.m.

Daily Responsibilities:  Your daily responsibilities:

1.      To request medical records through our case management software and

2.      Follow up on those requests every few weeks.

3.      Once the medical and billing records are obtained, you will update our software to reflect the amounts billed, paid, written off, and still owed.

4.      You will prepare a medical treatment chronology.  You will likely also interact with our clients to verify what treatment providers they have seen.

Good writing and speaking skills a must.  Spanish Speaking a plus.

To Apply:

Include a cover letter with the following:

1.      Tell me you favorite candy by typing “My favorite candy is” and include your favorite candy.  What does this have to do with the job?  Absolutely nothing, but I like candy (chocolate is my favorite), and this ridiculousness shows me you read this entire post and can follow simple instructions.

2.      Give me 3 sentences on why you want the job.  Word to the wise-I will only read the first 3 sentences of your email, so don’t waste 1 of those sentences with “Hi, my name is…”  Your name doesn’t tell me why want the job, and now you have only 2 sentences left.  Please, for the love that all that is holy, don’t tell me why you’re perfect for the job.  Perfection scares me.  I prefer imperfection.

3.      Tell me how much you would like to be paid.  Will I actually pay you this?  Maybe, maybe not.  Ask for too much, and you don’t know the market.  Ask for too little, and you don’t know your worth.

4.      Attach your resume so I can see what you have done during the past few years.  I don’t care if you salted peanuts at the circus or piloted a space shuttle to the moon, I just want to see where you have worked, how long you worked there, and what you did.

Sign your name, and include your phone number directly beneath it.

That’s it.  Pretty simple, right?  I know I seem silly with these ridiculous application instructions but this silly guy has a pretty awesome job waiting for the right person to come along and take it.  Let me know if you are that person.

Salary: $17.00-$20.00 per hour based on experience.
