Small Tool Mechanic

Reports to: Lead Small Tool Mechanic

Hours: Primarily M-F 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM unless otherwise dictated; 50 - 55 hours per week; overtime and some Saturdays expected

Job Location: 2040 Alum Creek Drive

General Overview: Assist Field Services, Tool Mechanics and Lead Tool Mechanic with repairs, maintenance and inventory or tools and equipment entering and leaving Igel yard on a daily basis. Oversee all yard activity and keep yard safe and organized. The person will consistently demonstrate the company’s core values: Integrity, Gratitude, Excellence and Leadership.

Responsibilities

• Assist in loading and unloading shipments and deliveries in a safe, timely manner.
• Keep all items in Igel’s Small Tool Department stored and marked in orderly fashion for accurately tracking and efficient locating.
• To maintain an accurate and legible log of the Small Tool activity in/out inventory and of basic items in Field Supply to increase effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Including warehouse and yard inventory.
  • Including small equipment in/out log with employee name and job number.
• Learn and apply maintenance techniques to keep all items handled by Small Tool Department in safe, operating condition.
• Morning routine checks of “After Hours Grey Shed” and “Yard Return Area”.
• Repair small engines: service, overhaul and troubleshoot.
  • Order parts through Lead Mechanic.
• Operate forklift for safe transporting, loading and unloading material.
• Put supplies away (as needed).
• Fill material orders as indicated by requests made via the phone or “in-house” request.
• Make deliveries and pick up materials as needed.
• Snow removal of Igel yard and sidewalks as needed.
• “Igelize” new items in inventory by issuing and placing an Igel number on each item.
• Maintain a presentable Igel yard.
  • Including removal of trash and organization of pallets.

Other duties as assigned (including facilities, office and shop).

Any deviation of job responsibilities must be first cleared by Lead Mechanic.

Requirements/Education/Skills

• Must have a motor vehicle record that satisfies the company’s insurance requirements
• Must have reliable transportation
• Must be able to pass a drug test
