Under the supervision of cardiovascular surgeons, the CVA provides quality patient care, conducting pre-operative, perioperative, and post-operative procedures. Sign-On Bonus Available.
Key Responsibilities:
- Performs patient admission evaluations, history, physical exams, and medical record review.
- Offers pre-operative education to patients and families, addressing surgery, recovery, and risk factors.
- Assists in cardiovascular surgery procedures, including chest opening and cannulation.
- Conducts invasive procedures such as line placements and catheterizations.
- Administers intravenous medications for arrhythmia treatment.
- Performs post-operative tasks, including transcribing orders and monitoring patient status.
- Assists with technical patient management, including catheter care and thoracostomy tubes.
- Participates in patient discharge with interdisciplinary team.

Requirements
Graduate of an approved primary care physician assistant or surgical assistant program.
High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
License, Certification, Registration:
Licensed by the State of California as a physician assistant.
Current BLS certification.
Must have a National Provider Identifier (NPI), or obtain an NPI, prior to employment start date.
Additional Requirements:
Experience as a cardiovascular physician assistant.

Education: Bachelors or graduate degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited university-based Physical Therapy program. Licenses/Certifications: Current license to practice Physical Therapy by Texas Board of Physical Therapy Examiners. Current Certification in Basic Life Support. A physical therapist practicing direct access: Education: Doctoral degree along with a residency or fellowship program, OR Licensed therapist with 30 hours of continuing competence activities in differential diagnosis. Licenses/Certifications: Texas Board of Physical Therapy Examiners license. Experience / Knowledge / Skills: At least two (2) years outpatient ortho experience required or completion of an accredited residency program. The position requires occasional/frequent lifting of up to 75/100 pounds and carrying of up to 30 pounds; prolonged standing; frequent walking, stooping and squatting. Fine hand dexterity, eye-hand coordination, the ability to receive oral and written communication, and to communicate verbally and in writing are also necessary.
