The Nurse Practitioner (NP) assesses patients in the designated service, conducts physical exams, and communicates with patients both in person and through electronic means. Collaborating with the department, the NP ensures smooth patient care flow aligned with quality indicators and contributes to overall care coordination. Reporting to the Chief of the designated service and Department Manager, the NP adheres to California Board of Registered Nursing standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducts age-appropriate patient assessments, considering physical, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, and cognitive aspects.
- Consults with supervising clinicians based on patient needs.
- Collaborates with healthcare team members for effective patient care and quality indicators.
- Reviews medical records for follow-up or diagnostic orders.
- Establishes communication with other departments and providers for operational efficiency and care continuity.
- Builds effective relationships with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
- Delegates and coordinates healthcare team activities.
- Ensures safety principles are applied and efficiently handles emergencies.
- Demonstrates accountability for professional practice and participates in staff development.
- Upholds legal and ethical considerations in patient care.
- Engages in unit and department performance improvement and nursing research.
- Demonstrates a service-oriented approach in all interactions.
- Proficiently uses computers and telecommunication for documentation and information sharing.
- If in a specialty role, fulfills role-specific expectations.
Work Hours:
- Week 1: Monday to Wednesday, 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM
- Week 2: Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, 6:30 AM to 7:30 PM
Requirements
Minimum of 6 months experience as a nurse practitioner. CARDIOVASCULAR CARE, Mechanical Circulatory Support - Advanced Heart Failure Therapies - 2 years (within the past 3 years) experience as an NP providing specialized care to advanced heart failure patients on Mechanical Circulatory Support in Cardiovascular Intensive Care.

-Must meet credentialing requirements established for nurse practitioners within the (Masters Degree in Nursing and -National Certification from one of the following organizations: American Academy of Nurse Practitioners; American ---Credentialing Center; National Certification Corporation for Obstetric, Gynecologic and Neonatal Nursing Specialties; -National Certification Board of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and Nurses.)
-Candidates must meet requirements to apply for PTAN (Provider Transaction Account Number) at the time of hire and apply within 30 days of hire.

-Experience in managing patients on ECMO required. Adult Acute Care NP required.

Education: Bachelors or graduate degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited university-based Physical Therapy program. Licenses/Certifications: Current license to practice Physical Therapy by Texas Board of Physical Therapy Examiners. Current Certification in Basic Life Support. A physical therapist practicing direct access: Education: Doctoral degree along with a residency or fellowship program, OR Licensed therapist with 30 hours of continuing competence activities in differential diagnosis. Licenses/Certifications: Texas Board of Physical Therapy Examiners license. Experience / Knowledge / Skills: At least two (2) years outpatient ortho experience required or completion of an accredited residency program. The position requires occasional/frequent lifting of up to 75/100 pounds and carrying of up to 30 pounds; prolonged standing; frequent walking, stooping and squatting. Fine hand dexterity, eye-hand coordination, the ability to receive oral and written communication, and to communicate verbally and in writing are also necessary. The visual ability to monitor instruments, computers and equipment, recognize alphanumeric characters, distinguish colors and observe physical characteristics are essential to this position.
