Environmental Health & Safety Manager
Food manufacturers with fantastic benefits, growth potential and stability are hiring an EHS Manager. The ideal candidate should have a degree in Environmental Science, Safety Management or a related field. The EHS Manager should have knowledge of relevant safety regulations and a successful track record of implementing safety programs. Experience in the food industry is preferred.
They are looking for an EHS Manager who is hands-on, forward-thinking, analytical and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment. The EHS Manager should have excellent communication and organizational skills and be comfortable working with a variety of stakeholders. The successful candidate should also be able to prioritize tasks and work independently. They should have the ability to think strategically and be a team player.
Full relocation will be provided.
Job Responsibilities:
Act as a subject matter expert to develop and implement action plans, processes, and procedures to control environmental, safety & health risks. This includes conducting assessments, identifying risk areas, developing plans of action, and regularly monitoring progress.
Coaching all levels of personnel on critical skills, behaviours and techniques that build and sustain a Zero Harm culture.
Develop, improve, and maintain EHS programs consistent with applicable regulatory standards (EPA, OSHA, DOT, etc.).
Maintain an effective regulatory engagement system to foster positive relationships with federal, state and local regulators.
Coordinates the evaluation, development, and implementation of training.
Organize and conduct studies to identify hazards, risks, and trends.
Ensure emergency management programs are developed and maintained in readiness for anticipated emergencies. This includes hazard assessments, personnel training, equipment, and alerting systems. Respond to site emergencies.
Perform incident investigation and reporting; create and facilitate action plans; track and drive investigations to completion.
Participate in internal audits. Drive investigations to closure quickly and accurately to ensure that the appropriate actions are taken to prevent similar incidents in the future.
Maintain relevant ES&H records and documentation for training and inspections/audits.
Support the development of annual plans, including goals, objectives, targets, training, audits, etc.
Maintain awareness of federal, state and local environmental, safety, and health regulations.
Must-Have Requirements:
BS/BA in Occupational Safety & Health, environmental, chemistry, engineering, or the equivalent of 2+ years plant safety experience.
Must have manufacturing experience working in a team environment with proven decision-making and problem-solving skills.
2 to 5 years experience in an Environmental Health and Safety role in a manufacturing environment
Strong understanding of the rules, laws and regulations associated with EHS
Preferred Not requirements
Prefer the consumer products, packaging, food or manufacturing industries
Professional ESH Certification (CSP, CEP, CHMM, etc.)
ISO14001 internal auditor preferred
Technical writing includes the development of technical documents, procedures, sampling plans, hazard/job analyses, and training presentations.
Environmental Health & Safety Specialists are responsible for identifying and managing compliance with environmental regulations and best practices, as well as maintaining and enforcing regulatory compliance within our organization. The successful candidate will have a background in environmental science, experience with industrial hygiene analysis, experience with on-site wastewater treatment, and an ability to assist in hazardous waste disposal.
