Our client is a multinational integrated logistics & transportation company with a variety of cargo vessels. The Operations Manager coordinates the activities of the Operations Department by planning and monitoring the logistics of cargo movement for vessel call preparation.
Responsibilities
- Planning, coordinating, and monitoring the execution of container movements from one site to another.
- Obtaining and presenting of loading list and advice for planning.
- Positions tally clerks, take statements of facts, and check discharging and loading positions at internals to enable determining the expected time of departure.
- Preparing to discharge and loading summary to generate out-turn reports.
- Controls stock of equipment.
- Collate daily port situation/activities (i.e. vessel movements in the Port) to ascertain berthing prospects.
- Prepares vessel s essential boarding documents before its arrival/berth.
- Performs all pertaining boarding duties upon vessel arrival/berth
- Prepares necessary documentation before the vessel sails.
- Summarizes Discharging and loading activities to generate the various reports.
- Any other official duties that may be assigned from time to time.
Requirements
- A minimum of first degree in Logistics or any related course.
- At least five (5) years of professional experience in a supervisory capacity in the shipping and logistics industry (ports, terminals).
- Professional certification or license from a recognised international institution (e.g. CILT).
- Training certification in industry Safety will be an advantage.
- Training on and experience undertaking Performance Analysis will be an added advantage.
- Must be flexible with time, and willing to be on call most times.
- Proficiency in using SAP or similar ERP software.
- Must be computer literate with advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Windows
