Job Description

Job Profile Summary
Performs complex analysis, preparation, documentation, and filing of various tax returns and workpapers relative to sales & use tax compliance, planning, and audit controversy.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Research, prepare, analyze, coordinate, review, and document information related to recurring responsibilities such as monthly, quarterly and annual tax filings
  • Develop and coordinate various tax and financial strategies to ensure compliance with the laws and regulations of various governmental authorities
  • Analyze and document federal, state and local tax legislation and judicial activity in order to regulate and ensure specific and effective tax applications for the company
  • Provide guidance and information related to proposed or enacted tax regulations and legislation; tax procedures; and tax preparation and/or planning to employees, management, and others
  • Provide guidance, training and/or coaching to employees; assist in determining work priorities and job assignments; and monitor and evaluate employee performance (specified by position)
  • Assist in development and maintenance of applicable micro and/or mainframe programs used in tax accounting activities

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance, or other related field with previous experience working in various tax accounting functions or equivalent formal education plus the following job-related experience:

  • Develop and coordinate various tax and financial strategies to ensure compliance with the laws and regulations of various governmental authorities
  • Analyze and document federal, state, and local tax legislation and judicial activity to regulate and ensure specific and effective sales & use tax compliance for the Company
  • Provide guidance and information related to proposed or enacted sales & use tax legislation; sales & use tax procedures; and sales & use tax preparation and/or planning to employees, management, and others
  • Provide guidance, training and/or coaching to employees; assist in determining work priorities and job assignments; and monitor and evaluate employee performance (specified by position)
  • Assist in development and maintenance of applicable micro and/or mainframe programs used in sales & use tax accounting activities

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Broad knowledge of multistate sales & use tax laws, regulations, and procedures
  • Ability to: apply logic to interpret the above and apply math skills used to calculate sales & use tax liabilities in various applications
  • Ability to: communicate (with the spoken and written word) and/or exchange information and instructions with internal/external stakeholders as well as supervision and management
  • Ability to: work independently and in groups related to area of responsibility

Licenses and Certifications

  • None required, although CPA and/or CMI is desirable
