Overview:
Possesses broad knowledge of various hardware and software used in the control of manufacturing processes and equipment. With moderate direction applies understanding of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Ladder Logic, and Human-Machine Interfaces (HMI) to design, modify or improve control systems. Performs work that is varied and may be somewhat difficult in character. Interprets policies and requirements in light of established objectives. Assists in the developing changes to plans and/or methodology. May provide recommendations for improvements in order to meet program objectives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide electrical engineering and PLC, HMI, and/or robot programming for projects as assigned, project kick-off, outsourcing, supplier follow-up, and progress management to on-time, complete, and accuracy expectations, and implementation assistance
- Develop and/or design project controls, software, pneumatic/lubrication engineering, HMI, & standards. Includes minimum content expectations for operations to planned functional specification, sequence of operations as well as HMI content for operations, system performance monitoring, and error recovery
- Provide engineering support on system start-ups, troubleshooting, customer acceptance & project close out as required
- Liaison between Company and third-party controls, software, and installation suppliers to optimize communications and develop suppliers into partner-like relationships
- Requires routine travel to local and non-local customers both domestic and international
- Understands and follows both Company & OEM employee/supplier, compliance, confidentiality, and safety regulations/policies, and identifies and communicate any concerns
Required Education, Training & Experience
- Bachelor s degree (B.A.) from four-year college university in Electrical Engineering, Technology, or Mechatronics or International equivalent.
OR
- 10+ years of related industry experience or equivalent combination
- Working knowledge of two or more controls platforms: Rockwell Automation, Siemens, Beckhoff, and Bosch Rexroth
- Working knowledge of PDM/PLM systems (EPLAN)
- Working knowledge of CAD Systems (AutoCAD (Electrical)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong relationships with key contacts for general industrial, metal sheet handling & powertrain automation market-related suppliers: management, sales, applications engineering, project engineering, purchasing, production and maintenance departments, supplier base, and its integrators
- Ability to write reports, proposals, business correspondence, and procedure manuals

Preferred Education, Training and Experience
- ERP experience
- Customer Relationship Management database products (SalesForce)
- Knowledge and understanding of: Controls Electrical / Pneumatic / Lubrication Drawings / Schematics (North American & European Standards)
- Industrial automation electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic controls and PLC/HMI panel designs
- Controls, processes, and manufacturing methods for general industrial, powertrain and/or press automation products
