Job Description


Title: Investment Professional ( IP )

Location: Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

Opportunity

As a key member of the Shorooq Partners team, the IP will assume an important role in building our practice in Saudi Arabia. The IP will be pivotal in driving our investment efforts and developing further our operations and presence in Saudi Arabia. We are looking for passionate candidates who can demonstrate deep knowledge of the start-up and investment ecosystem. This includes but not limited to leading investment sourcing, conducting due-diligence, presenting an investment proposal and leading the investment process with Shorooq Investment Committee, as well as contribute in the management of the Saudi Arabia based portfolio companies. The IP will report into one of the firms seniors.

Our ideal candidate has a demonstrated passion for technology and investing, and is able to quickly form a strong, informed opinion on novel technologies or business models, must feel comfortable performing conducting due diligence, sourcing investment opportunities, and have fluency in legal agreements. Our ideal candidate will demonstrate strong project management skills, critical thinking, time management, communication and internal management skills.

Responsibilities include the following:

- Manage and continually evolve all stages of the venture investment evaluation and execution process, including deal sourcing, due diligence, investment recommendations, and preparation of transaction documents and relative supporting materials

- Deal sourcing: proactively engage various ecosystem activities in Saudi Arabia to generate and improve internal deal sourcing initiatives and processes

- Deal screening: Curate and evaluate the investment opportunity pipeline including calls and/or meetings with prospects, and conduct accurate evaluation processes

- Create, manage and review comprehensive financial models for individual start-ups as well as portfolio companies

- Manage and lead the due diligence process and requirements for the priority deals as well as own and present the relative data, analysis, legal preparations and investment recommendations

- Participate in Shorooq s relationship with its portfolio companies in Saudi and manage reporting requirements for the fund and respective LPs

- Assist portfolio companies with business development, future funding and other strategic initiatives in Saudi

- Represent Shorooq in ecosystem engagements and activities such as conferences and meet-ups

- Collaborate with the rest of the Investment Team for strategic planning, as well as develop and evolve systems, policies, and procedures for managing our pipeline and portfolio

Desired start date is Jan 2023.



Requirements

Qualifications and Requirements:

- Bachelor s Degree; from a leading local or international academic institution. MBA or similar degree preferred

- Professional qualification such as CFA or CPA are a plus

- Strong passion for technology, entrepreneurship and VC

- Proven experience in an investment company, investment banking, management consultancy or a technology company with focus on product

- Data-oriented and analytical thinker

- Proactive, team player, self-driven, results oriented with sharp time management skills

- Fluency in English is a must

Qualifications: At least 3 years of relevant work experience as a finance analyst or associate in Big 4, Tech, Professional Services, or similar firm B.A or B.S degree from a recognized educational institution with excellent academic credentials Strong oral and written communication skills - fluency in English Attention to details, team player, ambitious, self-driven, results-oriented, and sharp time management skills Ability to work effectively under pressure and with a large number of stakeholders Strong ethics, with an ability to manage confidential data Strong experience working with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel and Google Suite
