Job Description

A leading World Class Tier-1 supplier of components for the automotive industry, has several full-time on site Process Engineer positions available at their facility located in the Cottondale, AL area. These positions are a result of major growth within the company as demand has increased by their customers.

These Process Engineering positions are mostly on 1st shift but some will be on 3rd. If you have experience in one or more of the following areas then this position may be of interest to you. 1) Plastic Injection Molding, 2) Secondary Assembly of Plastic Parts, 3) Water Jet Cutting and Trimming, 4) Robotics Process Engineering (Fanuc and ABB), 5) General Process Engineering, 6) Thermo-forming or Vacuum Forming, 7) Paint.

This position reports directly to the Process Engineering Supervisor and is responsible for the general and specific job duties of our client as described below:

  • To exhibit teamwork skills and actively participate in team activities in a positive working environment.
  • To demonstrate problem solving skills in a work environment that is striving for continuous improvement.
  • Adhere to all safety and health objectives, policies and procedures of our client to provide for a safe and healthful workplace. Work in a safe manner at all times and report any unsafe conditions to your supervisor in order that the situation can be corrected. Report all accidents and near misses in a timely manner when they occur.
  • Maintain proper ergonomics at all times when performing assigned tasks.
  • To perform daily cross-functional job assignments in all areas of your assigned department per the established procedures and work guidance.
  • Participate and support all lean, continuous improvement programs, initiatives and activities.
  • Clean all assigned work areas after completion of the required work according to 5s standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Initiate machine process setup of control and processing parameters, make adjustments within process tolerance and recommend any changes for improved efficiencies.
  • Continually monitor all processes related to machinery to ensure equipment is running at optimal efficiency.
  • Participate in analyzing and work to resolve process, equipment and tool issues.
  • Assist in the set-up and start-up of new tools, new equipment and resins for trial
  • Assist with the set-up and maintenance of other equipment as required in your area.
  • Assist machine operators as required to troubleshoot problems.
  • Responsible for regular and periodic monitoring of product for acceptable quality and the most current specifications.
  • Ensure process parameters are followed; and troubleshoot any engineering/equipment related issues for the entire facility.
  • Work with limited supervision and maintain an atmosphere of cooperation among and between shifts and departments.
  • Train and oversee Process Tech s on each shift.

Requirements

  • Degree preferred but not required.
  • Minimum 5 years of related experience in plant level manufacturing or process engineering, preferably in an automotive manufacturing environment
  • Must have experience working as Process Engineer or Process Technical Professional.
  • Excellent computer and communication skills
  • Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting capabilities
  • Ability to pay attention to detail
  • Experience with plastic injection molding - urethane and robotics is preferred.
