Job Description

BI Developer Cloud Migration

The Clinical Operations and Business Analytics (COBA) team at Dana-Farber is seeking a BI developer to help assist in the migration of analytics content from an on-prem data warehouse to a cloud-based data warehouse.

The developer will be responsible for the migration of all Tableau Data Sources from a MS SQL Server environment to a cloud-based Snowflake environment. This will involve modifying our 300+ existing data sources in our Production Tableau environment by re-factoring SQL queries, replacing tables, and modifying and testing connections in Tableau Desktop. The developer will also be responsible for publishing the migrated data sources and performing quality assurance testing to ensure the data is reconciled between the two environments and dependent Tableau workbooks are functioning appropriately.

Responsibilities

  • Conversion of MS SQL queries to Snowflake queries
  • Publishing of re-factored Tableau data sources
  • Quality assurance and testing of migrated SQL queries and integrations
  • Collaborate with the data warehouse team to prioritize backlog of items
  • Communicated the status of the work daily
  • Escalate issues, concerns, and problems which may hinder achievement of deadlines and or/ accomplishments of responsibilities

Requirements

  • Strong SQL query writing and troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent understanding of MS SQL Server and Snowflake data environments
  • Proficiency and experience with Tableau development in Tableau Desktop
  • Familiar with Tableau administration such as publishing, promoting, etc.
  • Experience extracting and processing data from multiple data sources such as: Databases (sql server, Oracle, Snowflake), applications, flat files (*.csv, *.txt, *.xml, *.json) and streaming data.
  • Experience with SQL conversion tools preferred
  • Exposure to version control
